Golden Sun Teaser

Tsukasa: Hey guys just wanted to drop in a random teaser of an idea I had. I'm not going to give many details on what it is other than it may be a chapter in Goodnight Kiss or may even be a part of a new series entirely. To be honest, I don't even really know. It's just been in my head for the past week and a half and I wanted to get it on paper. It's dastardly short, but that's what a teaser is supposed to be: short. Enjoy!
Karen: We don't own Golden Sun, only this idea!

#############################################

Matthew fell to his knees, digging his sword into the ground to hold himself up. The pain that resounded through his body was excruciating. He had been fighting this man for what felt like hours, yet... it seemed like nothing could hurt him!

The man wore a green and blue mask, his brown hair flowing in a single ponytail behind him. He shrouded himself in a black cloak that masked the rest of his body, but didn't hinder his movements in battle even slightly.

In his hand he held something that brought fear into Matthew's eyes: a blade that shouldn't even exist. The man wielded the Gaia Blade, a sword thought to have been lost during the lighting of the Elemental Lighthouses.

"Get up...." the man growled as he stepped toward Matthew, instigating the boy into leaping to his feet, his sword once more at the ready.

"Shut up!" Matthew roared as he brought his sword down quickly, unleashing Ragnarok.

But fear once more lit his soul as the man held up his sword, the earthen energy inside of his blade parrying the psynergy before altering it's path, sending it flying into the sky above them where it proceeded to explode in the magnificence of it's element.

"Is that all?" the man spoke once more and, before Matthew could bring his sword up to block, the boy was cut down.

Blood spewed from Matthew's right shoulder as he fell to the ground, his eyes wide in shock, his body paralyzed by agony and terror. Was he going to die? Everything began to fade into black as the man said, "And to believe you're his son... what a mockery to his name..."

It seemed like that was it. This was Matthew's end as he let his eyes slowly flitter shut.... but something reignited his passion for life, a scream through the haze that was enveloping him.

"Matthew!!!" screamed the Jupiter adept of the party.

Yes, the entire party was watching in horror as their leader was destroyed before their very eyes, ordered by Matthew himself to stay out of the battle. They had never seen a man so powerful. They even fathomed their parents weren't powerful enough to not only stop Ragnarok, but send it into the sky.

And as Matthew fell Karis couldn't hold her feelings for the Venus adept back, couldn't let him die like this; "Don't you dare die Matthew!" she gasped, tears streaming down her face as her comrades watched her in intrigue, "I... I... I-!"

Matthew's eyes shot open as his body spun from the ground, swinging his sword toward the man only to once more be blocked, "You.... I'm not done with you yet!"

"So you still have fight in you..." for the first time since the fight started, the man was struggling, though only in the slightest, to combat Matthew. "Even though I just sliced the nerves in your shoulder, you're using your element, Venus, and it's power over life to stimulate your muscles into moving..."

Matthew's eyes burned with another element; the power his mother had. Fire seared the man's skin as he looked into the Venus adept's greys, "All of this because of the cry of one girl..." the man chuckled.

"Shut up! Scum like you shouldn't even be referencing someone as amazing as her! I won't let myself die, knowing that I'd be leaving her alone!" Matthew screamed, taking a step forward to push the man back, though once more the warrior showed no emotion.

"You have your mother's eyes.... Wise One bless her soul..." the man used all of his strength to force both his and Matthew's swords away from their hands before kicking Matthew to the ground.

Before the young Venus could even make a move toward standing, the masked warrior used his psynergy for the first time in the battle. Charging the power of earth into his fist, he slammed the full strength of Terra into Matthew's stomach, creating an impact crater around them as well as rousing a storm of dust from the earth.

And as the cloud cleared, all that remained was Matthew, barely breathing, in the crater. The masked man was gone. The battle was over, and for the first time since their adventure had begun...

Matthew had lost.
I've had this battle playing in my head for the past week while i was at work, blocking out all but my strongest new ideas completely, so before it could mar my thinking any further I decided I'd put it on paper and see what you all think of it.

I know there's nothing to go on, but if you viewers like this scene, I will do my best to work on it. Maybe I'll add it into Goodnight Kiss and make it less fluff and actually have a story, or maybe I'll make a new series out of it. who knows. And yes, no matter what I turn it into, it WILL be based around Dawnshipping!

For now, let me know what you think!
